Scar care after surgery

Aftercare

How should a surgical scar be cared for?

A good scar comes from a wound that closes without tension in a hidden line. Sun, smoking and early sport can undo that.

Scar position is planned at consultation. Tension, infection and sun exposure affect the final line more than a cream alone.

Silicone gel, tape or laser are not needed for every scar. The surgeon advises by healing stage.

Follow-up continues for 12 months while the scar matures. Early photos do not represent the final line.
